After campaigning in the southern and coastal districts of Karnataka, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy began his poll campaign for the coalition candidates from Hubballi on Friday by canvassing for Congress candidate Vinay Kulkarni.

In a joint show of strength, Mr. Kumaraswamy attended a Congress-JD(S) convention along with the former Minister Basavaraj Horatti and other leaders.

Attacking the Narendra Modi-led Union government, Mr. Kumaraswamy said that there was no clarity in the governance of Mr. Modi and he had been touring the country telling only lies. He alleged that Mr. Modi was least bothered about the problems of the farmers of the country and had so far not discussed or revealed what he had given to the youth and women of Karnataka.

Mr. Kumaraswamy sought to know on what basis Mr. Modi was seeking votes. Mr. Kulkarni lambasted the incumbent MP and BJP candidate for Dharwad Pralhad Joshi accusing him of creating unrest in the society. “Mr. Joshi does not know how to unite society, but is an expert at dividing it,” he said.

Mr. Kumaraswamy also listed out the achievements of the coalition government in the State and said that the government had achieved a great deal within a short time.

Taking a dig at BJP’s talk of respect for the 12th century social reformer Basavanna, Mr. Kulkarni challenged the BJP to adorn the walls of RSS offices with the portrait of Basavanna, if they really revered him.

The former Chairman of the Legislative Council Veeranna Mathikatti; I.G. Sanadi, former MP; Konareddi, former MLA; KPCC office-bearers Altaf Hallur, Anil Patil; JD(S) leaders Rajanna Koravi, M.S. Akki, and others were present.
