“Bharatiya Janata Party’s national president Amit Shah does not have any moral right to speak about the Congress,” Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has remarked caustically.
He was speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of the 12th Chitra Santhe here on Sunday, in response to Mr. Shah’s recent statements against the Congress-led State government. Mr. Shah had accused the Congress of indulging in misrule.
The Chief Minister dismissed the accusation and said that Mr. Shah, who was himself an accused in a fake encounter case, was discharged due to the “blessings” of the Central Bureau of Investigation.
“The BJP does not have any moral right to level charges against the Congress. Many BJP leaders have gone to jail over corruption charges and some are still in prison. This is the BJP’s history,” he said.
Asked about the government recommending the former Chairperson of Legislative Council V.R. Sudarshan to the post of Chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission, he said that Governor Vajubhai Vala had sought some clarifications.
“We have already submitted the clarification to the Governor,” he pointed out. Mr. Vala had sought more information on the government proposal recommending Mr. Sudarshan and six others as members of the KPSC on Saturday.
