CJI to inaugurate law college’s golden jubilee today

The golden jubilee celebration of Saraswathi Law College will be held here on Saturday. The programme will be inaugurated by Chief Justice of India H.L. Dattu, Minister for Social Welfare and district in charge H. Ajnaneya said here on Friday.

The Minister told presspersons that the institution, started in 1965, was the first law college in the district.

In the last five decades, 5,232 students have studied in the college, including 1,929 students from the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes.

Saraswathi Education Institute chairman H. Hanumantappa said the college was among the oldest and reputed institutions in the State.

Plans

As a part of the golden jubilee celebration, there were plans to start a digital library to help students to expand the horizon of their knowledge, he said.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would preside over the Saturday’s event to be held at the police parade grounds.

Union Law Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises G.M. Siddeshwar, Horticulture Minister Shamanur Shivshankarappa and G.H. Thippareddy, MLA, would be the chief guests.

Valedictory ceremony

Mr. Anjaneya would preside over the valedictory ceremony to be held at 4.30 p.m.

Saraswathi Law College secretary D.K. Sheela, advocates Pathyarajan and Shivu Yadav, Superintendent of Police Anucheth and Assistant Commissioner Tippeswamy were present.
