Abuse continues: Kannada writer

October 25, 2015 02:14 am | Updated 02:14 am IST - Bengaluru:

Chetana Theerthahalli, journalist and writer who lodged a complaint a week ago against Madhusudhan Gowda for abuse on Facebook for her support to a protest against Dadri lynching, is still being harassed. Ms. Theerthahalli had lodged a complaint with the Hanumanth Nagar police on October 14, after Gowda sent her private messages on Facebook, threatening with even rape for participating in a beef-eating protest. However, even after lodging a complaint, the abuse has not stopped.

Derogatory messages

“The latest abusive message was on Saturday morning and it came from the same profile. Gowda has even befriended my 16-year-old son on Facebook and sent abusive and derogatory messages to him as well. My son has blocked him now. In his messages, he is adamant that his abuse will not stop until I stop writing against Hinduism,” he said.

The Hanumanth Nagar police have put a police beat point at her house, which she said had given some sort of security.

5 or 6 profiles

Ms. Theerthahalli said that she had been updating the police about all the messages. “He has opened five or six profiles with the same name Madhusudhan Gowda. The profile gets deactivated once an abusive message is sent from that profile,” she explained.

Meanwhile, B.S. Lokesh Kumar, DCP (South), said that probe had revealed that Madhusudhan Gowda was not an alias and admitted that the police were yet to track him down.
