Cars set on fire in Belagavi

Unidentified miscreants set fire to some cars parked on the road in Jadhav Nagar in Belagavi on Tuesday night. Seven cars parked outside bungalows and apartments were burnt.

CCTV footage has shown three persons committing the act. They came in a car and were wearing helmets to avoid been spotted. Their car had no number plate, police said. The offence was committed around 3 a.m. An old woman who saw the flames woke up her family members who called the police and fire force personnel. They put out the fire in around 20 minutes, police said.

A case has been registered in the APMC police station.

Police Commissioner D.C. Rajappa has constituted a special team to crack the case. It will also study recent similar cases in Kalaburagi, a police officer said.
