Book on concepts in occupational therapy released

The 114th publication of Manipal University Press, ‘Concepts in Occupational Therapy: Understanding Southern Perspectives’ was released by Poornima Baliga, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Health Sciences, Manipal University, here.

The book release formed part of the inaugural function of the three-day programme ‘OT Euphoria 2017’, being organised by Department of Occupational Therapy on the occasion of World Occupational Therapy Day. The book is an academic collaboration between Manipal University and the University of Cape Town, South Africa. The editors are Sebestina Anita D’Souza, Head, Department of Occupational Therapy, School of Allied Health Sciences, Roshan Galvaan and Elelwani Ramugondo, both Associate Professors at University of Cape Town, South Africa.

The features of the book include contextually relevant case studies, accessible language and learning tasks to facilitate understanding and application of basic concepts. The book would help occupational therapy educators, students and practitioners in countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Meanwhile, ‘OT Euphoria’ got under way with activities to sensitise the public about the rights, abilities and challenges faced by people with disabilities.
