K.C. Venugopal, AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka, on Sunday alleged that the BJP in the State has been attempting to topple the coalition government by offering crores of rupees to Congress MLAs to poach them.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Venugopal alleged that the BJP was using black money to lure Congress legislators. Congress MLAs will not fall prey to the black money of the BJP, he said.

He claimed that false reports were being circulated by the BJP. “It is the game of the BJP. They are believing in Central agencies and money. They think that with their black money, they can topple this government. But it is not going to happen,” he said.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday alleged that “kingpins” involved in gambling and illegal lottery business were supplying money to BJP leaders for toppling his government by luring the legislators of ruling parties.

“None of our MLAs will join the BJP. We trust our legislators. BJP has been attempting to lure them. There is no threat to the coalition government,” Mr. Venugopal said.

KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao said that a section of the BJP leaders, including B.S. Yeddyurappa, indulged in “unethical practices” to destabilise the government. The BJP has been wooing Independent councillors to grab power in the BBMP, he alleged.
