Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate S. Ziyaullah has prohibited Manohar Sambhaji Bhide, who is facing charges of provoking violence in Maharashtra over the Bhima-Koregaon issue, from entering Belagavi district. This follows reports that the 85-year-old activist has been invited by a Hindu organisation to speak at a public rally in Belagavi this week.

Mr. Bhide, Sangli-based pro-Hindu activist, is also facing charges under the Prevention of Atrocities against SCs/STs Act in Maharashtra.
