Emphasising the need for students to take up research, S.V. Prabhu of L&T Chair at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Dharwad, has asked engineering students to become scientists and contribute to nation-building.
He was speaking at the graduation day ceremony of KLE Society’s BVB College of Engineering and Technology here on Tuesday.
Prof. Prabhu said that more number of students should try to learn new things and take up research.
Elaborating on the need to think differently and having ideals, he said that ideals would be the guiding lights in one’s life.
Vice-Chancellor of KLE University C.K. Kokate asked students to keep themselves updated as technology was changing at a fast pace.
Presiding over the graduation ceremony, Chairman of KLE Society Prabhakar Kore said that the KLE Society was, through its institutions and initiatives, trying to meet the challenges set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the fields of sports, research and quality education.
Vice-Chancellor of KLE Technological University (KLETU) Ashok Shettar, Registrar B.L. Desai, Principal of BVBCET P.G. Tewari, Director of KLE Society Shankranna Munvalli and others were present.

On the occasion, achievers in the Civil Services examination Laxman Nimbaragi, Mallikarjun Mamani, Fakkiresh Badami and Avinash Naduvinamani were felicitated by the dignitaries.
The dignitaries honoured toppers in BE, B.Arch, M.Tech and MCA with gold and silver medals.
