Ban imposed on entry of Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat into Sakleshpur today

October 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Hassan:

The Hassan district administration has prohibited RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat from entering Sakleshpur on Thursday, following a recommendation by Superintendent of Police Raman Gutpa. Mr. Bhat had been invited by the Sakleshpur taluk unit of the Bajrang Dal to participate in the “go raksha abhiyan” to be held at Sakleshpur on Thursday.

Mr. Gupta on Wednesday told The Hindu that he had recommended the district administration to prohibit Mr. Bhat from entering Sakleshpur on Thursday. “We are aware of the provocative speeches he delivered earlier. We are not against anybody. Our interest is maintenance of law and order,” he said.

Mr. Bhat had participated in a similar programme organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad here on August 14 and his provocative speech had been reported in a section of the media.

Memorandum

Earlier, leaders of some progressive groups had submitted a memorandum to the district administration, seeking prohibition of the entry of Mr. Baht into Sakleshpur on Thursday.

S.N. Mallappa, leader of Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, and others had contended that his speech might disturb communal harmony in Sakleshpur.

The district administration took the decision following an appeal by the Police Department
