Residents of Ashraya colony in Mundargi locality in the city, under the banner of Ballari Nagarika Horata Samiti, on Monday staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and also at the City Corporation, against lack of basic amenities.

The agitating residents said that their plight knew no bounds with the storm water gushing into their houses following heavy rain on Sunday night. They said that they had to spend a sleepless night and had to strive hard to protect the food grain and other household items from the storm water. They submitted a memorandum to Additional Deputy Commissioner T. Venkatesh narrating their plight, which they said had become a routine after every rain as there were no proper roads, drains among other amenities. Mr. Venkatesh promised them that he would instruct the officials to visit the place and initiate steps to mitigate their problems.

They have sought civic amenities in their area
