MLC and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary N.S. Boseraju affirmed that all those involved in APMC land scam and borewell drilling scam would be brought to the court of law.

He was addressing a media conference at Reporters’ Guild here on Monday.

He was referring to two recently unearthed scams - one, alleged irregularities and violations in selling over 80 acres of valuable land belonged to Raichur APMC to 87 private traders at a throwaway prices and two, alleged misappropriation of public funds in implementing borewell drilling projects meant for supplying drinking water in Raichur rural areas.

“As the questions and doubts were raised about the legality of AMPC land allocations to private traders, I have discussed with the concerned officers and asked them to have an enquiry. As for borewell scam, I was the first to bring the issue to the notice of Deputy Commissioner and ask him to have a probe. Now, investigations are on in both the issues. We will surely bring the offenders into justice,” the senior Congress leader asserted.

Baseless allegations

Denying the allegations levelled against him by Arasappa, a Revenue Department employee, as baseless, Mr. Boseraju said that it could be a politically motivated attempt to malign his image.

“I came to know through media reports that Arasappa had sought the permission of Chairman of Legislative Council to book a criminal case against me for harassing him and the latter had granted it. The fact, however, is that I didn’t even know who Arasappa was until these allegations and hence there was no question of harassing him,” he said.

To a question, Mr. Boseraju clarified that neither he was aware of the complaint against him nor was he consulted by Chairman of upper house in State’s legislature either before or after giving permission to book a criminal case against him.

“Only after these allegations, I collected some documents that shed light on Arasappa’s conduct as public servant. He was suspended four times and presently also he is under suspension for his rampant irregularities and misappropriation of public funds. He is also convicted for three month for illegal activities,” Mr. Boseraju said.

If my interference in normal bureaucratic functioning or misuse of power for personal ends is proved, I will end my 45 years of public life and get retired from political activities, he added.
