Supporters of B.S. Anand Singh, Vijayanagar MLA, staged demonstrations in Hospete and also at Kamalapur, near Hampi, on Sunday against the reported attack on him by Kampli MLA J.N. Ganesh. They demanded an inquiry into the incident.

At Hospet, the protesters burnt tyres at Rotary Circle and shouted anti-BJP slogans and demanded “justice” for Mr. Singh.

They held the BJP and its State unit president B.S. Yeddyurappa as responsible for the incident.

According to them, the incident would not have occurred had there been no alleged attempts by the BJP to poach Congress MLAs in its bid to come to power in the State.

At Kamalapur, Mr. Singh’s supporters burnt tyres at Ambedkar Circle, demanding action against those who had attacked him.
