A supporter of B.S. Anand Singh, Vijayanagar MLA, attempted to cut his tongue to fulfil a vow he had made seeking the former Minister’s release from jail.

Murali, a resident of Kariganur on the outskirts of Hosapete, had vowed to cut his tongue if Goddess Huligemma fulfilled his wish of Mr. Singh’s release from the jail. On Saturday, when he was heading towards Huligi, a pilgrim centre to fulfil his vow, his family members prevented him.

He tried to cut his tongue with a blade the same night. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Mr. Singh was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on the charge of illegal transport and export of iron ore from Belikeri port and he was lodged in Parappana Agrahara for over 18 months. He was released on bail on Thursday.

Mr. Murali has sustained injuries and is under treatment. He is able to talk.
