Amit Shah spares no time for local leaders in Belagavi

June 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - BELAGAVI:

Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah seems to have disappointed the party’s leaders in the district by avoiding any discussion on various organisational and political issues in the State during his brief transit break at the Belagavi airport at Sambra on Tuesday afternoon.

Accompanied by Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers H.N. Ananth Kumar, Mr. Shah was on his way (by road) to Nargund in Gadag district, where he was scheduled to participate in a function later during the day.

Among those who accorded a warm reception at the airport were State BJP president Pralhad Joshi, MPs Prabhakar Kore and Suresh C. Angadi, and legislators, former ministers and office bearers of the party’s district unit.

“He came, he saw but didn’t talk to us; he had his lunch at the airport guest house and proceeded to Nargund,” said some of the leaders who were hoping to buy time for a brief interaction with him.

After lunch, Mr. Shah walked straight to the car, apparently declining an audience with the presspersons.

Governor Vajubhai Vala, who was also invited to attend the function at Nargund, had arrived from Bengaluru and left by road after a short break at the airport.

Meanwhile, the SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Belagavi, in which Mr. Shah was travelling, was running 75 minutes behind schedule.
