Vehicles plying between Mangaluru and Bengaluru will have to start taking the alternative routes from Friday.

Buses, cars, jeeps and other light commercial vehicles going from Mangaluru to Bengaluru will have to go via B.C. Road, Mani, Puttur, Madikeri, Hunsur, Mysore, Mandya and Ramnagaram. Those going to Hassan will take a diversion at Hunsur and reach Hassan from Holenarsipur. Heavy vehicles will go via Udupi, Kundapur, Bhatkal, Murudeshwar, Honnavar, Shimoga, Tiptur and Nelamangala.

Buses, cars, jeeps and vans from Udupi to Bengaluru will go through Karkala, Malaghat, Kudremukh, Kalasa, Kottigehara, Mudigere, Belur and Hassan. KSRTC’s Rajahamsa, Airavata and heavy commercial vehicles will go via Kundapura, Siddapura, Hosangadi, Balebare Ghat, Mastikatte, Hosanagar, Ayanur, and Shimoga.

The vehicles will be plying on these alternate routes in light of closure of the road between Gundya and Sakleshpur.

District in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai said there will be strict vigil at regular intervals by the police to ensure that vehicles ply on these routes. “There will be confusion for the first few days. If vehicles are found violating, fine will be imposed,” he said. Superintendent of Police Sharanappa S.D. said the police have taken steps to place hoardings at the place of diversion to ensure compliance. Police barricades will be placed at specified points. Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim said cranes and toeing vehicles have been placed at appropriate points along these routes to clear blockades.
