People belonging to different faiths rendered special prayers seeking rain at an all-religion prayer programme held on the premises of the Anjuman-E-Islam Society here on Sunday.

The special all-religion prayer programme was organised by the Anjuman-E-Islam Society. Heads of various communities and religions took part and offered prayers on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Anjuman-E-Islam Society president Ismail Tamatgar said that mass prayer had immense power. The condition of farmers is pathetic owing to scanty rainfall for the last four years, Mr. Tamatgar said, adding that they had lost all hopes and their morale was also low. The need of the hour is to encourage them to erase fear among them and shun negative attitude, and gear up for the kharif season, he added. Apart from seeking divine intervention, people should also act responsibly and grow more trees, he said.

Pontiff of Manasur Mutt Baasavaraj Devaru called upon the farmers to keep faith on the almighty. He said this year would certainly help them overcome all their problems. Rampant deforestation has led to scanty rain, he said, adding that the officials concerned were delaying in approving check dam proposals.

Rev. Father Fredrick Jacob said man has to learn from his failures and seek the guidance of the almighty in preserving nature.
