A triple graduate throws hat in the ring

He is a triple graduate – with two bachelor degrees and one postgraduate degree. In spite of having an MA, a B.Ed. and MSW from Bangalore University, he made agriculture his primary occupation, and has now has plunged into the political fray by choosing to contest in the gram panchayat elections.

Meet Santhosh Kumar of Nallandahalli in Masti hobli of Malur taluk in Kolar district. His contest for a seat in Rajenahalli grama panchayat has created curiosity among people.

Mr. Kumar worked for as a guest faculty in Government Pre-University College in Doddanayakanahalli and was associated with the Karnataka High School Quality Assessment Cell.

Realising Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of making villages self reliant prompted me to contest the rural local body elections, Mr. Kumar told The Hindu on Thursday.

Participation of educated youths in the political process will certainly help make a difference, the 35-year-old opines.
