A ray of hope amid low ranking for Kalaburagi

As a ray of hope amid despair, students of Sharanbasveshwar Residential Public School and a few other schools including Sri Guru Vidya Peetha in the district, have done extremely well in the SSLC examination results announced on Tuesday.

Kalaburagi district’s performance slipping down in the overall ranking at 32nd position with an overall pass percentage of 74.97 — as against the 30th position last year. Out of the total 556 students who appeared in the SSLC examination from Sharanabasveshwar Residential Public School, 538 had passed with a pass percentage of 97.9 per cent. Three of its students — Santoshi S. Korwar, Sharanaprasad V. Kollar and Sushmita Patil — capped the sterling performance of the school scoring 615 marks out of 625.

The overall performance of the Hyderabad-Karnataka region continued to be dismal, with marginal improvement achieved by Bidar, Raichur and Ballari districts. While the Raichur improved its ranking from 23rd last year to the 17th position with an overall pass percentage of 87, Bidar improved its pass percentage from 34th position in the State last year to 28th position this year with a pass percentage of 80.24. Ballari improved its ranking from 32nd position last year to 24th position this year with a pass percentage of 84.70. However, Koppal slipped from 22nd rank last year to 33rd position with an overall pass percentage of 71.91 and Yadgir slipped from 11th rank to 22nd rank this year with a pass percentage of 85.06 per cent.
