A youngster who was recently selected for a State government post staged a protest along with his relatives in Hassan on Tuesday, seeking the return of his original certificates from the private educational institution where he was teaching on a temporary basis.

Arjun of Belur taluk used to worked at Sagacious Academy School in Hassan. He had submitted his original marks cards and certificates to the school at the time of joining. After he was selected for the post of first division assistant in the Forest Department, he approached the school and sought return of the certificates as he had to produce them on Wednesday for document verification before getting the appointment order.

But when the school authorities refused to return the certificates, he took his parents and office-bearers of the Dalit Sangharsha Samiti and Ambedkar Sene to the school and staged a protest. The school authorities had an argument with the protesters and said they would not return the certificates as relieving the teacher in the middle of the academic year would affect the school’s functioning. However, when the protesters refused to relent, the authorities returned the documents.
