Sriramulu sold my plots without consent, alleges Karunakara Reddy

Denies giving him GPA; accuses MP of playing cheap politics

Differences in the Ballari Reddy camp appear to be growing with former Minister G. Karunakara Reddy accusing B. Sriramulu, MP, of selling 10 of his plots without consent.

“How can I keep quiet when my property is being sold by Mr. Sriramulu,” asked Mr. Reddy, who has filed cases against Mr. Sriramulu, who is a close associate of his younger brother and mining baron G. Janardhana Reddy.

Speaking to reporters for the first time after his brothers and he lost power following the fall of the B.S. Yeddyurappa government, Mr. Reddy said: “I had to approach the court to prevent further sale of my plots by Mr. Sriramulu. He could have discussed with me before selling the sites.”

Mr. Reddy also accused Mr. Sriramulu of playing cheap politics by getting a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act registered against him after a suit was filed in court. “Everybody knows who is behind getting the case registered against me for filing a case in court.”

Denying that he had given Mr. Sriramulu the general power of attorney (GPA), the former Minister said he had created a GPA to one of his associates to sell the sites.

Mr. Reddy took exception to reports in a section of the electronic media that Mr. Sriramulu was politically powerful and his support was needed for him to get BJP ticket and win the forthcoming Assembly elections. “I am pained by these reports, which said that Mr. Sriramulu got me party ticket. In fact, I got him BJP ticket. If Mr. Sriramulu was powerful, how did his party win only three out of the total nine seats in the district. Even the Ballari (Rural) seat, represented by him, lost,” he said.

To a question, he said he did not attend the wedding of Mr. Janardhana Reddy’s daughter as he did not get an invitation.
