The former Dy.SP. Anupama Shenoy has written to the Governor, Speaker of the Assembly, Chairman of the Council, and the Chief Secretary seeking grant of permission to prosecute eight people for “criminal conspiracy”, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister G. Parameshwara, the former Minister Parameshwar Naik and the Chief Election Commissioner P.N. Srinivasachary.

Ms. Shenoy has accused them of hatching a conspiracy to get her transferred from Kudligi sub-division ahead of the zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat elections in Ballari, and indulging in electoral fraud through money obtained from the liquor lobby. The others against whom she has levelled charges are Home Minister’s adviser, M. Kempaiah, the former Director-General and Inspector-General of Police Om Prakash, Inspector-General of Police, Ballari, S. Murugan, and Superintendent of Police, Ballari, R. Chetan.

Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, Ms. Shenoy said she had written to the Governor on January 11, and was awaiting a reply.

“To ensure that my case in the court of law, against all the eight accused would not be dismissed for want of permission for prosecution by the competent authorities, I have sought permission to prosecute them,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Naik on Thursday challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the floor of the Assembly that he was willing to face even a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into allegations levelled against him by Ms. Shenoy.

Citing media reports, Jagadish Shettar, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, alleged that Mr. Naik had received ₹42 lakh from the “liquor lobby” for transferring Ms. Shenoy and she had documents to prove the charge. Mr. Shettar also alleged that though Ms. Shenoy lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on December 16, 2016, investigation was yet to commence.

Rubbishing the allegations, Mr. Naik said: “I will retire from active politics if allegations against me are proved by an investigative agency.”
