The authorities of Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara prison, where AIADMK interim general secretary V.K. Sasikala is serving sentence in the disproportionate assets case, have said that she is being treated on a par with other prisoners, except that she is housed in a separate cell, along with Ilavarasi, who is also imprisoned in the case, for security reasons. A female warden has been posted as guard.

A release issued by chief superintendent of Parappana Agrahara Central Prison Krishna Kumar says that as per the prison rules, she is being provided food, clothes and utensils like all other prisoners serving simple imprisonment. She has also been provided with a television as per the provisions of prison rules. She was being treated by the hospital doctors and given medicines.

Sasikala, Ilavarasi and V.N. Sudhakaran, who is also in the prison in the case, would serve four years’ sentence and pay a fine of Rs. 10 crore. If they failed to pay the fine, they would serve an additional year in prison, the release said.
