Sahitya Sambhrama from today

The fifth edition of the annual three-day Kannada literary festival, Sahitya Sambhrama, will begin at the Golden Jubilee auditorium on Karnatak University campus here on Friday.

According to chairman of the organising committee and critic Giraddi Govindaraj, the event promises to provide a literary feast with writers and artists from a wide spectrum of society participating in sessions that will cover a wide range of themes.

Along with a book exhibition, an exhibition of letters will showcase letters written by common people to various important writers and other eminent persons. Journalist Vishweshwar Bhat will inaugurate the book exhibition, while H.S. Venkateshmurthy will inaugurate the letter exhibition.

Later, poet K.S. Nissar Ahmed will inaugurate the event. Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree will be the chief guest, Karnatak University vice-chancellor Pramod Gai will release a souvenir. Senior academic and writer B.A. Vivek Rai will deliver the keynote address.

Writers Devadatta Pattanayak, Na D’Souza, Veena Shanteshwar, Kum. Veerabhadrappa, K. Satyanarayana, the former Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Kamala Hampana, Chandrashekhar Patil, the former police officer D.V. Guruprasad, actor Aparna, Sumateendra Nadig, Siddalinga Pattanshettty, T.S. Nagabharana, Mallepuram Venkatesh, S. Shettar, Channaveera Kanavi, actor Ramesh Arvind, O.L. Nagabhushan Swamy and director of Kannada and Culture Department K.L. Dayanand will participate in the different sessions during the three days. A total of 22 sessions on a wide range of themes will be held.
