RTE online application trial fails

The first day of RTE server trial for online applications on Sunday turned out to be a damp squib, with around 40 to 50 parents waiting for hours at the RTE Students’ and Parents’ Association to get through the system.

B.N. Yoganand, general secretary of the association, said not a single application could be processed. “In the new trial version, parents must enter the Aadhaar number of the child, followed by phone number. An OTP is sent to the registered number, which must be entered in the system. But the system did not accept the OTP. The Aadhaar integration has not worked at all,” he said.

Every time parents entered details, three types of system messages were received: Aadhar number invalid, OTP KYC mismatch and server error.

Clarifying that the technical glitches will be sorted out soon, Commissioner for Public Instruction P.C. Jaffer said, “The trial did not work due to multiple server integration. It will be fixed and the actual admission process will start in a few days.”
