The State government will soon roll out the third phase of the Nagarothana project for creating urban infrastructure and amenities in towns and cities at a cost of Rs. 2,000 crore.
“The project design is ready and will come up for discussion in the Cabinet soon. Once it is cleared, we will roll out the project across the State,” Municipal administration Minister Eshwar Khandre said at the Janaspandana meeting here recently.
Eco-friendly project
He said that an eco-friendly waste management project would be implemented in all urban local bodies in the State. He set a deadline of seven days for release of crop loss compensation to farmers. People who had lost houses in heavy rain would be compensated, he said.
The Minister reprimanded officials of Pre-University and Minorities Welfare departments for delaying the transfer of the new building of the government girls junior college in Bidar old city.
Reacting to a suggestion by Nabi Qureshi, city municipal council member, the Minister said that the new building would be transferred to the Department of Pre-University Education within 10 days. Mr. Khandre asked District Health Officer Baburao Hudgikar to redeploy doctors to see that each primary health centre had at least one doctor.
The Minister said that the Janapara Utsava folklore festival would be held in August.
The Minister responded to pleas by Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha leader Vishwanath Patil Koutha and said that the government will promote the cultivation and consumption of millets to reduce malnutrition.
He directed officials to settle the freedom fighters pension of Hanumanthrao Barage whose application had been rejected once before. He directed Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari to sanction land to various communities that needed burial grounds. The Minister asked the Deputy Commissioner to issue a show-cause notice to the RTO officer who was not present at the meeting. He also asked Mr. Tewari to ensure that all physically challenged applicants were given driving licence.
Mr. Tewari said that all those who had lost houses during road widening efforts would be given houses or plots.
