Mr. Modi led the nation-wide celebrations of the event from Chandigarh last year.

The International Yoga Day will be held on June 21.

The invitation also mentions Mysuru’s association with yoga and Mr. Simha also highlighted how the city has emerged as a hub for international students to learn the ancient discipline. Mr. Simha also drew attention to the city’s popularity as a tourist destination and also underlined its tag of being nominated the ‘cleanest city in India’ for two straight years.

On Mysuru’s link with yoga, Mr. Simha also recalled its association with Krishnamacharya, who is remembered as “Adhunik Yogasan Pitamah”, Sriranga Guru, Padma Vibhushan B.K.S. Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois and others and also highlighted the mass yoga demonstrations at the palace premises.
