Hundreds participate in Royal Mysuru Marathon

Hundreds of people participated in the Royal Mysuru Marathon held in the city on Sunday.

The event was held in different categories including half-marathon or 21.1 km Run also called the Royal Run and a 10.05 km Heritage Run, covering historic and heritage buildings.

Route taken

The events were flagged off from JSS Science and Technology University, popularly called the SJCE campus, with participants running through the Manasagangothri campus of University of Mysore before passing through Saraswathipuram Fire Brigade, and the road along the heritage buildings housing Maharaja’s College, Zilla Panchayat and Mysuru Court Complex before taking a U-turn and returning to the SJCE campus to complete 10.05 km.

The half-marathon runners had to complete two loops of the route to cover 21.1 km.

The events organised in other categories inlcuded a 3 km Green Run, a 3 km Vidya Run for students, a 3 km Senior Citizens Josh Run/Walk and a 1 km Life Challengers Run/Walk/Wheel for people with disabilities.

The Royal Mysuru Marathon was organised not only to encourage health and fitness through running, but also to raise funds to support underprivileged communities.
