Heatwave conditions continue in Hyderbad Karnataka, Bombay Karnataka regions

Searing heatwave conditions in the entire Hyderabad Karnataka and Bombay Karnataka regions continued with the mercury touching new heights. Belagavi Airport recorded the highest maximum temperature of 40.1 degree Celsius, which is the highest ever recorded in the month of April during the last 63 years.

The observations recorded by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday said that the temperatures were above normal at most of the places in the state and appreciably higher in South Interior Karnataka districts and in Hyderabad Karnataka and Bombay Karnataka region. Kalaburagi continued to record the state’s highest maximum temperature of 43.5 degree Celsius.

The record maximum temperature recorded in Belagavi Airport was four degree Celsius more than the temperatures recorded on the same day last year and the maximum temperature recorded by Kalaburagi was three degree Celsius more than the temperatures recorded on the same day last year. Kalaburagi also recorded the state’s highest minimum temperature of 31 degree Celsius, which was a record six degree Celsius more than the temperatures recorded on the same day last year.

Bidar continued to be on the boil recording a maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius, which was five degree Celsius more than the previous year’s maximum temperature recorded on the same day. Raichur closely followed with a recording of a maximum temperature of 42.8 degree Celsius.

Koppal and Vijayapura recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius and Haveri recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degree Celsius. While Dharwad and Gadag recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius each, Belagavi City recorded a maximum temperature of 39 degree Celsius.

The night temperatures were also high in the region with Raichur and Vijayapura recording a minimum temperature of 29 degree Celsius, followed by 28 degree Celsius minimum temperature recorded in Bidar, and Koppal and Gadag recording a minimum temperature of 25 degree Celsius each.
