June 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Mysuru:

Water supply to Mysuru city has been hampered due to defunct pumps at Kabini and Melapura water works. The MCC has engaged 24 tankers to supply water to the city.

However, K.V. Keshav, executive engineer of Vanivilas water supply, said supply to only 42 wards had been hit. He said only 20 MLD was being pumped from Kabini as aganst the 60 MLD.

Similarly, 50 MLD water was being pumped from Melapura as against the 75 MLD water. Hongalli and Belgola pumping stations are not function satisfactorily owing to frequent power cuts, he said. MCC Commissioner Betsurmath has instructed Vanivilas water supply to hire private tankers. It is planning on installing substitute pumps at Kabini and Melapura to ensure supply is not affected.
