40th Anubhav Mantap Utsav at Basavakalyan from Saturday

770 students to give performances based on the Vachanas

The 40th Sharan Kammata Anubhav Mantap Utsav organised by the Vishwa Basava Dharma Trust would be held at Basavakalyan in Bidar district on November 23 and 24.

Head of the Bhalki Mutt and president of the Anubhav Mantap Basavalinga Pattadevaru addressing presspersons in Kalaburagi on Tuesday said that Union Law Minister Pralhad Joshi would inaugurate the two-day event.

Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol will release volumes of Vachanas authored by writers in Kannada and Marathi.

As many as 770 students from Nupur Nritya Academy, Bidar, would give performances based on the Vachanas.

Dr. Pattadevaru said that the utsav would mainly focus on the Vachanas in musical form.

A seminar would be held on the Vachanas traditions and their rise.

In the evening session, the Guruchannabasva Samskritika Kala troupe will perform a play, Mahakranti.

On November 24, a seminar will be held on Vachana Kalyan-Tatvika Chintane.

Awards

Basavanand Mahaswami of Sriguru Basava Mahamane, Managundi, will be conferred with the Dr. Channabasava Pattadevaru Anubhav Mantap Prashasthi in recognition of his contribution to society.

The trust will confer the Dr. M.M. Kalburgi National Research Award on Jayashree Dande and Veeranna Dande for their extensive research works on Basava philosophy.

Competition

Three students who recite the Vachanas by Basaveshwara at the event would get a cash prize of ₹ 10,000, ₹ 5,000 and ₹ 2,000, respectively.

Dr. Pattadevaru said that the Anubhav Mantap Trust had sought ₹ 650 crore from the State government for the comprehensive development of the Anubhav Mantap at Basavkalyan.

Recently, the State government allocated ₹ 50 crore and released ₹ 20 crore to take up the development works in the Anubhav Mantap phase-wise, he added.
