33 injured as vehicle overturns

As many as 33 persons of a marriage party sustained injuries, six of them serious, when their vehicle overturned after ramming into a roadside electricity pole near Bhanapur on NH63 in Koppal district on Sunday.

The driver losing control of the speeding vehicle is said to be the cause of accident, the police said.

The marriage party, from Karadi village in Gadag district, was heading towards Ballari.

The seriously injured – Saroja Naiker, Arun Naiker, Lakshmavva Sandiwad, Jayanti Arehunasi, Kamalavva Wadavi and Jyoti Katannavar – were admitted to the district hospital at Koppal. The other 27 persons, including the driver, sustained minor injuries.
