22 H1N1 cases in Ballari

H1N1 has claimed a life of a person and 22 others have tested positive in Ballari district during the past one month.

According to sources in the Health Department, of the 87 smears collected, 22 have tested positive. The person who has died is from Ballari city. Of the 22 positive cases, 17 are from Ballari taluk, three from Sandur and one each from Sirguppa and Hadagali.

Sources told The Hindu that the outbreak has been sporadic and all steps, including Information, Education and Communication activities, have been taken up on a big scale to create awareness among the people to take all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
