The annual ISKCON Heritage Festival in which children of different schools of the twin-cities compete in various events will be held on the ISKCON Temple premises at Rayapur in between Hubballi and Dharwad from July 16.

President of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) Rajiv Lochan Dasa told presspersons here on Friday that the fest would go on till July 23, and 30 contests would be held in three categories. Already 12,000 students had enrolled themselves for the event.

The contests would be simultaneously held at three locations at the ISKCON temple. Events include drama, dance, rangoli, vocal music, vedic quiz, and painting.

Managing Director of Swarna Group of Companies V.S.V. Prasad, who has been supporting the event since its beginning, said it promoted national integrity as children of different communities participated in it and it also sent out a social message. He said such events were needed to make the children inculcate cultural and moral values.

ISKCON Vice-President Raghottam Dasa said the winners would get attractive prizes and so would the teachers who trained them. Special awards would be given to top five schools and a rolling trophy for the school with the maximum number of points.
