‘Dynamic city’ or ‘garbage city’?

February 14, 2017 11:57 pm | Updated 11:58 pm IST - BENGALURU:

Opposition members on Tuesday took exception to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah claiming credit for the World Economic Forum’s description of Bengaluru city as the “most dynamic city” in the world.

In a reply to the Governor’s address to joint session of the State legislature, Mr. Siddaramaiah said crime rate in the city has declined compared to previous years.

However, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar said the government should also claim credit for transforming Bengaluru into a “garbage” and “unsafe” city.

H.D. Kumaraswamy (JD-S) said the World Economic Forum had given recognition to the city owing to establishment of MNCs and not for due to better infrastructure facilities.

The Chief Minister countered this by saying that Karnataka has ranked number one in the country in attracting investment as well.
