The former Bihar Chief Minister could become a victim of political rivalry, says official

Days after former Bihar Chief Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha leader Jitan Ram Manjhi announced his party’s alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Centre accorded Z-plus security to him.

The move comes ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar. Mr. Manjhi, a staunch opponent of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, will be given round-the-clock security by the Central Reserve Police Force only in Bihar. Around 40 CRPF personnel would be deputed.

Mr. Manjhi, who was staying put at the official residence of the Bihar Chief Minister in Patna, recently moved to another accommodation. A senior official said a risk and threat assessment was done and it was found that Mr. Manjhi could become a victim of political rivalry.
