India on Thursday announced a humanitarian assistance of $3 million to Libya.

This comprising $1 million cash through UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and relief material and medicines to the tune of $1 million to Benghazi and Tripoli each, said an official statement issued by the Permanent Mission of India to the U.N.

The cheque of $1 million was handed over to the Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos at New York on Wednesday by India’s Permanent Representative to the U.N. Hardeep Singh Puri, the statement said.
