Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa is happy that Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy has accepted his challenge to testify before the presiding deity of Dharmasthala, Manjunatheswara, on allegations against him.
But Mr. Yeddyurappa will not be able to make it to Dharmasthala on Sunday as he has been undergoing treatment at Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala in this district.
“Let him [Mr. Kumaraswamy] come and testify before the deity on June 27. The Chief Minister will be there on that day,” a close aide of Mr. Yeddyurappa said at Kottakkal.
The Chief Minister refused to meet the press as he was closeted with his daughter Uma. His aide, however, rejected Mr. Kumaraswamy's charge that the Chief Minister was a coward. “He is not a coward.”
Change of plan?
Mr. Kumaraswamy claimed that Mr. Yeddyurappa planned to meet him at Kottakkal, where he had registered himself for body rejuvenation treatment from June 12. However, on learning about Mr. Yeddyurappa's plans, Mr. Kumaraswamy called off the visit. Sources at Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala said Mr. Kumaraswamy, too, had made some inquiries about treatment, but he did not make any booking.
