Hardik breaks fast, has lunch with Radadiya

Leader of the Patel agitation in Gujarat, Hardik Patel, on Saturday >broke his week-long fast by lunching with BJP MP Vithal Radadia , who is trying to broker peace between the Patel community and the Gujarat government over the quota issue.

On Saturday, Mr. Radadia held his second meeting with Hardik, >lodged in Surat jail facing two sedition cases slapped by the Gujarat government after he launched a mass agitation demanding quota benefits for the Patel community in the State.

“He has started having food from today [Saturday]. We had lunch together from his tiffin in jail,” Mr. Radadia, a prominent leader of Patel community in Saurashtra, told the media in Surat.

“After my first meeting with Hardik, I met Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel to discuss the issues Hardik raised with me. I met him again and we have been able to resolve most of the issues and differences,” he added, indicating that a formal announcement of truce will be made in next few days.

Among the main issues, the 22-year-old leader raised include > withdrawal of sedition cases slapped on him .
