November 28, 2015 01:47 am | Updated 02:55 am IST - New Delhi:

The AIADMK on Friday opposed the GST (Goods and Services) Bill in both the Houses of Parliament. In the Rajya Sabha, AIADMK member A. Navaneethakrishnan and K. Gopal in the Lok Sabha raised two main issues concerning the Centre-State relations.

Mr. Gopal said the the GST Bill would curtail the powers of the State. Mr.Navaneethakrishnan said, “The GST in its present form will have a huge impact on the fiscal autonomy of States and the revenue loss it is likely to cause to Tamil Nadu will be considerable.” He also added that Tamil Nadu’s repeated requests to authorise the use of Tamil in the Madras High Court have not been responded to favourably.
