Filmmaker arrested for GST fraud

Filmmaker Vijay Ratnakar Gutte has been arrested for alleged Goods and Services Tax (GST) fraud of over ₹34 crore, a GST department official said on Friday.

Mr. Gutte, director of the upcoming film, The Accidental Prime Minister , was arrested by the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence on Thursday. A metropolitan magistrate court here remanded him in judicial custody till August 14.

His firm, VRG Digital Corp Pvt Ltd, allegedly procured 149 fake invoices involving a GST of ₹34.37 crore for manpower services from Horizon Outsource Solutions Pvt. Ltd, the official said.
