The Enforcement Directorate questioned V. Shashikant, former MD, United Breweries Holding Limited (UBHL), in connection with the Vijay Mallya case on Monday.

On July 24, the agency raided the business and residential premises of Mr. Shashikant in Bengaluru under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act. He was an employee of the Mallya Group till February 2017, and worked as his executive assistant for nine years. “He was questioned in Mumbai on Monday,” an official said.

It is alleged that Mr. Shashikant incorporated United Branding Worldwide in Bengaluru after Mr. Mallya left the country and UBHL was liquidated.
