The Congress party on Monday said that Shashi Tharoor was being “hounded, persecuted and maligned” and accused the police of acting at the behest of the BJP.

Rejecting all charges against Mr. Tharoor, Congress communication chief Randeep Singh Surjewala said: “Is there a suicide note? The answer is no. Is there a statement of the deceased before a police officer or magistrate? The answer is no. Is there a statement by made any other person or her son or any other relative? So where is the charge coming from? It is coming from the factor of lies of the BJP.”
