The Enforcement Directorate on Friday recorded the statement of former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram as part of a money-laundering probe in the INX Media case.

On Thursday, it had questioned Mr. Chidambaram’s son Karti for five hours. The agency has so far attached assets worth ₹54 crore in India, Spain and the United Kingdom under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The probe is based on an FIR registered by the CBI, which had arrested Mr. Karti in February 2018. The CBI alleges that he had demanded and accepted $1 million for preventing any inquiry against INX Media for the alleged violation of the foreign investment law in 2007. Indrani and Peter Mukerjea, then directors of INX Media, have been named as accused.
