‘Charge based on imaginary details’

October 23, 2012 11:29 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 09:50 pm IST - SHIMLA:

The former Union Minister, Virbhadra Singh, on Tuesday said the statement made by BJP leader Arun Jaitley on his Income Tax returns was based on imaginary details.

In a written communiqué, the Himachal Pradesh Congress leader said: “Some senior leaders of the BJP and specially Arun Jaitley seem to know more about my I-T returns than me.”

Terming all the information carried out by a section of the media incorrect, he added, “I have filed my Income Tax return for the financial year 2011-12 which is true and factual and is supported by vouchers and receipts.”

Expressing surprise at how Mr. Jaitley could acquire I-T information that was not even available under the RTI, Mr. Singh said, “the assessment proceedings are still pending for scrutiny and the records pertaining to the I-T return will be shown to the appropriate authority when asked for.”
