Aerospace giant Boeing on Tuesday signed an agreement with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for providing assistance in communication, navigation and surveillance as well as air traffic management. Boeing will study current technologies and processes to suggest improvements.

This will be an 18-month project, which is being funded by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). The aim is to develop a 10-year roadmap for the AAI, which will guide it in the modernisation of the national airspace system and will include global and local best practices for efficient use of airspace capacity.

“We believe this project will play an important role in supporting India’s rapidly growing aviation sector and connecting American industry with new export opportunities,” said USTDA Director (Acting) Thomas R. Hardy.

“We look forward to such opportunities, where both countries can utiliSe their expertise and innovation, to develop blueprints for cutting-edge technologies for the future,” said Kenneth I. Juster, U.S. Ambassador to India.
