BJP-Sena alliance on the rocks

The 25-year-old political alliance between the BJP and the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra appears to be under severe strain with the former preparing to go it alone in the crucial October 15 Assembly election.

Both sides took strident positions on Thursday, with BJP president Amit Shah putting the onus of breaking the deadlock over seat-sharing on the Sena and Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut retorting that the party “didn’t care for any ultimatum from the BJP.”
