YSRC leader Injeti Raghava Reddy was allegedly hacked to death by a rival group on Koilkuntla road on the outskirts of Allagadda town on Wednesday night.

“Raghava Reddy was travelling in his car to his native village, P. Chintakunta, in Allagadda mandal, when his rivals waylaid him and sprinkled chilli powder in his eyes, before hacking him to death with sickles,” Allagadda Circle Inspector Obulesu said. Mr. Reddy leader succumbed to injuries while being rushed to a hospital at Kurnool.

Raghava Reddy was the main accused in the murder of a former sarpanch of P. Chintakunta, Injeti Govindamma, her husband I. Krishna Reddy and son Mallikarjuna Reddy and a one Mabu in February 2012.

Mr. Obulesu said a picket had been posted at P. Chintakunta to avert any retaliatory attacks. A murder case has been registered, he added.
