Film actor and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was trying to divide people on the lines of caste for political gain.

“I have no caste and am committed to uniting people of this State. No one can divide people on caste lines as long as I am alive,” Mr. Pawan said while addressing a public meeting at Gollala Mamidada village of Pedapudi mandal.

“The Chief Minister and the Cabinet members are attributing caste even to national leaders. Is it proper to attribute motives to the leaders who had sacrificed their lives for the cause of the nation?” he asked.

Targets Jagan

“I am here to do politics above caste and religion. My government will be corruption free, where youngsters would get jobs and the employees will get adequate salaries,” he said.

Taking pot-shots at Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for ‘failing to protect the self-respect and esteem of the Telugu people’ at the time of bifurcation, Mr. Pawan said he had not extended his support to the YSRCP in the 2014 elections as he had felt that Mr. Jagan was not cut out for the job. “He faces allegations of corruption and he had spent 16 months in prison,” he said, adding that even Mr. Naidu failed as a leader in the last four-and- a-half years.

“At last, Mr. Naidu prostrated before Rahul Gandhi. It is nothing but a major insult to the Telugu people,” he said.

Claiming that he had a soft corner for the poor right from childhood, Mr. Pawan said that his desire to do social service had prompted him to enter politics.

“The response from you people is giving me confidence that the Jana Sena Party will be voted to power. I will work for the welfare of all sections and ensure corruption-free administration,” Mr. Pawan Kalyan said, adding that he had not entered public life to make money.
