City’s Anu My Baby hospital has successfully performed a ‘water birth delivery, an alternative delivery for childbirth. In a press conference here on Saturday, Anu Group of Hospitals chairman G. Ramesh and MD G. Sridevi said that it was the first water birth delivery in Andhra Pradesh and appreciated the team of doctors and staff involved. About the delivery, Dr. Pavani Manikya and Dr. Kavitha Bathula said that a woman of Guntur’s Karampudi gave birth to a baby in a tub of warm water. Dr. Pavani said water birth, one of the natural deliveries, has several advantages. She said it takes less time and the intensity of pain experienced by the mother would be less. She said pregnant women with normal weight and no health issues like blood pressure and diabetes can opt for water birth delivery post due date.
